8853 WILLIAMSBURG BYRD CHINA TABLE BY BAKER FURNITURE CO.

This extraordinary china table is reproduced from a Williamsburg original, circa 1770, with ties to the Byrd family of Virginia as referenced by the carved bird in the open fret-work skirt shown in the photo to the left. This reproduction was first made by the Williamsburg Cabinet Shop as a special order item and was later part of the Williamsburg Reproduction Program and made for a limited period by Kittinger (CW192) and later Baker. The top of this Regency style cocktail table is figured mahogany veneer framed with cross-banded prima vera veneer. The turned shaft is solid mahogany with four acanthus leaf decorated legs terminating in brass casters for ease of mobility.

This forcefully executed solid mahogany tea table is a reproduction of a Philadelphia antique, circa 1775, shown in the Blackwell Parlor of the Winterthur Museum. With its finely carved skirt, acanthus leaf accent and ball and claw feet, this table represents the best of Philadelphia 18th Century design. This is an early and rare piece from the Winterthur Collection.

T731-2 CORNER BASIN STAND BY KITTINGER

One of the finer Kittinger reproductions is this corner basin stand in the Hepplewhite style. This basin stand is an exact copy of an exceptionally refined New England antique dating to 1780. Made of beautifully grained mahogany, there is satinwood string inlay decorating the basin shelf as well as the center shelf drawer and two drawer effects on either side. This beautifully graceful piece features a dovetailed backsplash with upper shelf and is fitted with a CW9 Williamsburg pewter basin by Stieff.
